ONE MORE DAY!

FIRST DAY HIKE AT CROWN POINT STATE HISTORIC SITE
New Year’s Day from 10 am – 12 pm
Explore the wintry landscape surrounding Fort St. Frederic and His Majesty’s Fort of Crown Point with a living historian guide. You’ll learn the history of the site and how people traveled, lived, worked, and survived 18th century winters on the frontier of Lake Champlain.
This moderate 3/4 mile hike is good for all ages; we will post a day or two ahead to confirm weather conditions. If no snow is predicted, warm, waterproof boots are recommended and we’ll traverse on foot.
Meet outside of museum at 10 am to sign in and score some free swag! Refreshments will be served in the museum following our winter adventure.
This is a free event but registration is required. Please register with name and number of visitors through Facebook, email kris.jarrett@parks.ny.gov or leave a message at 518-597-3666.

ABOUT THE BOOK| Loss and rediscovery occupy the heart of this adventurous collection. The characters in Eternal Night at the Nature Museum find refuge in strange, repurposed spaces: a middle-aged addict emcees a demolition derby, which transforms into a hostel, then a cult; a church congregates in an abandoned Hardee’s; octogenarians escape their nursing home; unsupervised children sell knives to the neighborhood. In a contemporary America blemished with loneliness and late-capitalism, there is no end to the fractured places in which these characters find ‘home.’ In twenty vivid, rowdy, buoyant stories—ranging from one-page flashes to thirty-page odysseys—Barton assembles a collection of unforgettable safe havens perfect for crashing, even if only for a night.
You’ve still got to time to read the book! You can purchase it HERE.
