MEADOWMOUNT MUSICIANS PERFORM MASTERWORKS IN SARANAC
Advanced string and piano students from the renowned Meadowmount School of Music perform at the Saranac Methodist Church on Route 3 on Tuesday, August 9 at 7 pm. The young musicians, who are on professional career tracks, come from points throughout the United States and from many countries around the globe, and have undergone a rigorous selection process to win the honor of attending Meadowmount’s seven-week training program, founded by the legendary Russian violinist Ivan Galamian in 1944. The program features three masterpieces in the classical chamber music canon: Beethoven’s Trio No. 3 in c minor, Op. 9; Ysaye’s Sonata for Solo Violin, Op. 27, No. 5 Pastorale; and Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 6 in f minor, Op. 80.
Free and open to the public, the concert is sponsored by Hill and Hollow Music. Free-will donations accepted for the Meadowmount Scholarship Fund. Refreshments will be served during intermission. Current public health guidelines will be followed: masks are optional but encouraged. For further info: telephone 518-293-7613, e-mail ambrown.hillholl@gmail.com or visit HERE.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull: A Solo Flight
Friday, August 12, 2022 at 4 pm and Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 1 pm
Dreamer. Rebel. Outcast. Jonathan Livingston Seagull is no ordinary bird.
Banished to the Far Cliffs by his flock for daring to break with tradition, Jonathan spends his life in pursuit of his unbound passion for flight, not to scrape and scrabble for food-but for the joy of flight itself. Richard Bach’s bestselling 1970 novella “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” is brought vividly to life in Jonathan Livingston Seagull: A Solo Flight by Adapter and Performer Andrew Thacher who invites us to join Jonathan on his journey through the here and now, and all of eternity, as he soars to the heights of perfection, freedom, and love.

Photography Workshop
We’re offering a Photography Workshop on August 11th, the night of the next full moon! The workshop is open to everyone. There is no charge. We will be there to work with people using film and digital cameras, as well as those using cell phones or tablets.
In order to talk a bit about the challenges of photographing the moon we will meet briefly at the Adirondack Art Association Gallery in Essex at 7:45 pm.
Then we will walk (about a block) down to Begg’s Park on the waterfront to set up and take some photographs. The moon that night is scheduled to rise at 8:26 pm, but since the moon has to climb a bit to be seen over the mountains, we will probably see it at about 8:35 pm.
