The Bookstore Plus Hosts “Sidewalk Signing” Event
Saturday, October 8, 2022
From 1 -3 pm, Linda Elovitz Marshall will autograph copies of her newest book Measuring a Year: A Rosh Hashanah Story, along with her other titles: Good Night, Wind: A Yiddish Folktale, Saving the Countryside: The Story of Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit, and The Polio Pioneer: Dr. Jonas Salk and the Polio Vaccine.


About The Author: Linda Elovitz Marshall has been a sheep farmer, early childhood educator, anthropologist, and indie bookstore owner. Her books have been Sydney Taylor Notable Award winners, as well as Junior Library Guild, PJ Library, and National Science Teacher Association selections. From 3-5 pm, Tim Rowland will autograph copies his newest book, _Happy Lonesomes: A Guide to 15 Eastern Adirondack Hikes That Are Long on Scenery and Short on Crowds, as well as titles in his Strange and Obscure series, Politics Weird-o-Pedia, All Pets are Off and Tim Rowland’s Creature Features.

ACW + NCPR’s Howl Story Slam returns to Tupper Lake
Wednesday, October 12, 7 pm (and should end no later than 8 pm).
This live, true storytelling event takes place at Raquette River Brewing. The price of admission is a $5-10 suggested donation.The season’s storytelling theme is “All in a Day’s Work.”
Howl Story Slam is a night of live, spirited stories told by anyone who would like to sign up. The rules are that your story must be true, must be told in under 5 minutes, and must be told without notes (unscripted). Judges will score stories, and at the end of the event, one person will be crowned the winner. Winning storytellers are given an invite to perform at ACW’s “Grand Slam” on January 7th, 2023 at the Saranac Lake Town Hall.

Talking about James Bond, Route 9, and Me, by Frieda Toth
Conversations with the Past Talk , Wednesday, October 12, 7pm at the Chapman. Donations Welcome.

Frieda Toth recreated the route of a Bond girl, going by motor scooter from the Canadian border to Lake George. It’s true! A Bond girl was in Lake George, where she and James Bond, 007, tackled some baddies at a motel near Storytown. Find out all about this on October 12.
