A Call for Outdoor Mural Proposals

“The Mural Project: A Sense of Place”

A Winter Call for Proposals opens for the year-long public art project: The Mural Project, “A Sense of Place,” using a trompe l’oeil ADK image – real, surreal, imagined.

The Call for Proposals begins in November 2022 reaching out to local landscape artists, or pairings with artists to submit their ideas, and sample work. For details, contact TahawusCenter@gmail.com.

The selected artist will receive a $2000 award for the winning design. An additional fee will cover the artist’s costs of scaling up. During the next phase, a crew will be assembled (combination of youth volunteers and skilled labor) under the direction of the artist, to assist in execution of the design on the prepared wall. And finally, upon completion, Tahawus will create a “ribbon cutting and thank you” event to celebrate the achievement for the artist and the community, volunteers, and supporters.

More details are HERE.

Evan Mack is on Broadway!

Founder of We Are Instrumental and Ticonderoga resident Evan Mack’s musical drama Angel of the Amazon” is based on the true story of Sister Dorothy Stang, who devoted her life to helping indigenous families of Brazil gain land rights and to protecting the Rainforest. In 2005, this 73-year-old nun was murdered by assassins hired by the owner of a logging company, who felt her passion for the Earth and all of its gifts to be a threat. Her sacrifice launched a global movement to save the rainforest and to plant trees around the world. Produced by Encompass New Opera Theatre.

This new musical drama with book and music by Evan Mack at The Sheen Center, 18 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10012. Performances begin Thursday, November 10 (OPENING NIGHT) and runs through Sunday, November 20, 2022.
