IBSF Para Bobsleigh World Cup
Saturday, November 19, and Sunday, November 20, 2022
The sport of Bobsleigh tests an athlete’s strength, finesse, and courage because athletes descend at a high rate of speed down a frozen twisting ice chute. The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation now offers this same challenge to elite athletes with an impairment, through its Para Bobsleigh sport discipline.
Lake Placid is pleased to host an IBSF Para Sport event yearly to assist with developing Para Bobsled and Skeleton into legitimate recognized international sports with the ultimate goal to be recognized by the IPC for inclusion in future Winter Paralympic Games.

Sugar & Spice 20th Anniversary: “Winter Fantasy” Gingerbread Making Contest
Our annual Sugar & Spice Gingerbread House display is a favorite of visitors to The TAUNY Center, and 2022 is its 20th Anniversary! This year’s theme is “Winter Fantasy.”
Whatever your skill level, TAUNY invites you to participate and help continue this tradition. We are excited to see the outcomes and look forward to all of your gingerbread houses. The houses will be on display December 3rd-24th, with voting cards available for visitors to choose this year’s People’s Choice Award!
As always, the Sugar & Spice Gingerbread Contest entries must be made of gingerbread baked from scratch and must be entirely edible. The maximum base size is 20″ x 20”. Please bring in your submission on a sturdy base of some kind. After you fill out the enrollment form, drop-off your gingerbread creation at The TAUNY Center from Friday, November 25 to Saturday, December 3.
An enrollment form is available HERE and in The Folkstore, and includes space for a brief description of the gingerbread house and/or a statement from the artist.
