SLC Arts Call For Art: “Love is in the Air!” Valentines Day Cards Exhibition

SLC Arts invites artists to submit artwork for their 2023 Valentine’s Day card exhibit, “Love is in the Air!” We are asking for submissions of handmade Valentine’s Day cards, either new or vintage, to be displayed at the exhibit. There are no official guidelines for the content on the cards, but we encourage submissions that involve themes of love, friendship, romance, and gratitude.

The final exhibited work will be selected by Sharon H.J. Cheng, an artist working with SLC Arts through the Creatives Rebuild New York grant program. This is the third theme in a series of Town Hall exhibits curated by Cheng focusing on mediums more accessible to the general public.

Deadline for submissions is January 30.

About that logo for Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games

A unique design concept used recycled glass for the 2023 bronze, silver and gold World University Games medals. The angular shape is meant to reflect angled mountain rock and ice forms of the Adirondack Park and Lake Placid region. The medals were made to highlight innovation and sustainable production.

From the Sun Community News, the story behind the medals awarded to winners is HERE.

“Vanitas”, new work by the ORT Project

January 25 through February 25, 2023

The Ort Project is the collaborative union of artists Oona Nelson and Anna Noelle Rockwell, whose lush installations and photographs explore and critique aspects of consumption, abundance and decay. Within their work Ort Project blends the influence of art history, the contemporary cult of convenience and abundance, along with current corresponding environmental threats and distorted value systems, into uncommon balances of the grotesque and the beautiful.
