Funding For the Arts Available!

The Essex County Arts Council is pleased to announce that the 2023 Cultural Assistance Program (CAP) Grant application is now available HERE.

For any arts group, historical society, preservation program, library, museum or organization providing public cultural programs for Essex County residents, this is an opportunity to request funding. The CAP application deadline is March 15, 2023.

CAP grants will support a wide range of activities, events and programs. Artists fees, program expenses, one-time use of materials for workshops, partial fees for program administration, advertising, rental space for a cultural event, equipment rental, lighting, sound, costumes, and professional fees are examples of what the CAP program will support. Each program may be funded up to $1,000. Eligibility requirements are available HERE. For any questions, please email Susan Hughes, ECAC Arts Administrator at admin@essexcountyarts.org.

This grant program is made possible by the generosity of the Essex County Board of Supervisors and ECAC’s loyal supporters.

Come on out for a dance party / concert at Saranac Village with Moment’s Notice. This four piece band has four veteran local musicians who work hard on tight arrangements of jazz standards, blues, Latin and few rock tunes. The music starts at 7:30pm and runs until 9pm.

Put your dancing shoes on and slide on out to the Saranac Village. $5 suggested donation. We ask that all attendees be fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

It should be a lot of fun on, hopefully, a cold winter night!

Daring Descents: Images of Mountain Sports

January 16 ~ February 25
Reception: Friday, January 20, 5-7 pm

The Widlund Gallery of Tannery Pond Center is proud to celebrate the gumption, chutzpah, moxie, and pure craziness of the folks who hurl themselves down snowy and icy mountains on skinny boards. Since the dawn of winter sports, artists, photographers, and writers have captured this daring. The artwork and historical objects on display reflect the variety of these descents, now and yesteryear. Present day equipment has advanced from the wooden planks and leather boots to equipment made from materials which could not have been imagined in the early 20th century. This exhibit honors the artists and athletes of the past and the present and your imagination can contemplate the winter sports of the future.

Featuring artifacts from: North Creek Depot Museum, Johnsburg Historical Society, New England/North East Lost Ski Area Project.

Featuring Art from: Nancie Battaglia, Jill Alicia Gruben, Julie Johnson, Stephanie Leonard, Mike Prescott.

Tannery Pond Center,. 228 Main Street, North Creek
