The carousel is spinning again. This unique Adirondack attraction celebrates old fashioned fun for all ages through entertainment, art, and education.
Come join us this Saturday January 15th. We will be offering free rides from 10 am-4 pm.
The carousel is open:
Friday and Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday, 10 am to 3 pm.

BANFF MOUNTAIN FILM FESTIVAL WORLD TOUR
Returns to Lake Placid January 23
Hot on the heels of the largest and most prestigious mountain film festival in the world, the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour will return for its twenty-second year to Lake Placid, 7 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts.
Tickets, which have sold out in advance the past twenty years, are $23 in advance or $26 at the door, are available at High Peaks Cyclery, 2733 Main Street, Lake Placid, 518.523.3764, daily 9 to 6 and at Lake Placid Center for the Arts, 518.523.2512, Wed-Sat 1-5; or online at HERE.
This year’s selection of seven films from five countries showcases over 2 hours of magnificent cinematography telling powerful stories that reflect a wide range of mountain experiences and portraits from mountain sports, culture and mountain environment to adventure.

WINTER CARNIVAL 2022 BUTTON AVAILABLE
“Doonesbury” cartoonist Garry Trudeau has released his button design for the 2022 Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. Using the Winter Carnival’s designated theme “Totally 80’s,” Trudeau’s illustration shows “Doonesbury” character J.J. sitting in the iconic 1980’s Delorean time machine with the date set to February 4th, 2022. Trudeau, who was raised in Saranac Lake, has created the Winter Carnival button design since 1981 to benefit the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival.
The button costs $5 and will be available at the following merchants in Saranac Lake beginning today: Ampersound, ADK wine and liquor, ADK Daily Enterprise, Blue Moon Café, Bear Essentials, Coakleys, Carcuzzi, Fusion Market, Gauthiers Saranac Lake Inn, Hyde Mobil (Broadway), Hyde Mobil (Lake Flower ave), Kinney Drugs, Lakeview Deli, Rice Furniture, Rusty Nail, Saranac Lake wine and Liquor, Saranac Lake Waterfront Hotel, Tops, Village Mercantile, Waterhole, Will Rogers, History Hut and Gift shop (HQ), S/L Chamber of Commerce.

Buttons will also be sold during Winter Carnival at its History Hut Gift Shop and Headquarters located at the Lake Flower Boat launch. They are also available through mail order by sending a check payable to Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee, Attention Barb Martin, P.O. Box 566, Saranac Lake, New York 12983. Please note that this mailing address is different than in the past for those who automatically mail requests each year. Past Winter Carnival buttons are also available for $5. APPLY NOW FOR COMMUNITY ARTS & ARTS ED GRANTS IN CLINTON, ESSEX, FRANKLIN & HAMILTON COUNTIES
The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts (ALCA—a.k.a. “the Arts Center”) is pleased to announce that the application deadline for the 2022 Statewide Community Regrants (SCR; formerly Decentralization/DEC) Community Arts and Arts Education grants has been extended to 11:59 pm on Monday, January 31st (from 12/31/21).
The 2022 cycle covers encompasses arts projects initiated and completed between March 1 and December 31, 2022. Applicants may request funding for one, two or three projects—e.g., two Community Arts projects and one Arts Ed project—for a total of $5,000. Seminar attendance is required for either grant category.
