Announcing our 2023 Weekend Series of concerts

A new lineup of incredible musicians comes to ALCA this season!

The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the 2023 Weekend Series concerts taking the stage this year! Enjoy a range of musical genres, from classical to rock, showtunes to Americana folk. We look forward to kicking off “Back in Blue, Act III: the Magic Continues!” with all of you!

Build a Wee Lassie Canoe

May 2023
$2,900 – $3,000

The original Wee Lassie was a lapstrake-built open cedar canoe made in 1863 by J. Henry Rushton of Canton, NY. Rushton was one of the most famous canoe builders of his era. George Washington Sears, who wrote of his adventures under his pen name of Nessmuk as he recorded his paddling adventures throughout the Adirondacks, popularized these small, finely crafted canoes.

Come spend 11 wonderful days with master instructor Larry Benjamin building your own Wee Lassie. You will be guided through every step of the building process. Leave with a beautiful, lightweight canoe that handles well in the water. Open to all level of student.

Location: 1746 U.S. 9, Lake George, NY 12845, Alfred Z. Solomon Lake George Annex, located on Rt. 9 in the Log Jam Outlets immediately behind the Log Jam Restaurant.

High School Juried Art Show

Opening Reception: Friday, April 21st, 4-6 pm

Each year, the Lake Placid Center for the Arts presents the Annual High School Juried Art Show to recognize the artistic talents of high school students in the Lake Placid region. Two local artists serve as jurors to put together an exhibit highlighting some of the best young local talent.

Join us for an evening of poetry—no prior experience required! Find joy in the creative writing process while sipping on a glass of pinot.

2nd Annual Salamander Festival

Saturday, April 8, 10 am – 2 pm, FREE

Join Paul Smith’s College students from The Wildlife Society chapter and learn all about salamanders and other amphibians!

Students will present on the biology and ecology of our local amphibians. Come learn proper handling techniques and take a walk outside to explore amphibian habitat. Folks of all ages are welcome. Fun activities for kids and adults alike–crafts, competitions and amphibian ID games. Hope you can make it.
