From Practical to Posh: Steamboat: Travel in the Adirondacks

From the mid-19th century to the introduction of the automobile in the early 20th century, steamboats were an efficient way to transport goods and people. During this period, steamboat travel soared in popularity with summer tourists destined for remote locations, some accessible only by water. This new exhibit located in the Stoddard Gallery, highlights the popular travel method from Seneca Ray Stoddard’s point of view.
The Chapman is open Tuesdays – Saturdays, 10 am – 4 pm, Sundays, 12 – 4 pm

Woodcock Walk!
Friday, May 5, 7:30-9 pm
If you’ve never seen a male American Woodcock perform its mating display, join us this Friday evening and watch the spring dance. Join us if you’ve seen it dozens of times—it never gets old!
This is a perennial favorite, led by naturalist Milt Adams. We’ll meet promptly at the VIC before driving offsite for the program.
