The Hague Historical Society Presents
Local Authors Book Signing Event
Sunday, August 13, from 4-7 pm
The Hague Historical Society will host its ever-popular local authors book signing event at the Silver Bay YMCA Conference Center in Hague, NY. This is the fifth year for the event.
Nearly 20 authors from the region will be present, signing copies of their books and answering questions about their work. The authors represent a wide variety of genres, including children’s and young adult books, humor, regional history, biography, conservation and more. This is an excellent opportunity to meet local authors who live in and/or write about our region. Children’s book authors will entertain the kids with stories and crafts.
Hague, nestled on the beautiful shores of northern Lake George, has long been home to a wide range of artists and authors who find inspiration in this idyllic town. From 1917 until about 1928, the New York City-based Pen and Brush Club owned a house in Hague with accommodations for up to 15 overnight guests.
Membership in the club was open to women who were earning their living from the arts. Still today, many writers make their home in Hague or nearby towns or are frequent visitors.
Everyone is invited to the book signing event, which is free of charge.

Creating Art in Nature – Walking Workshops with Ed Kanze & Sandra Hildreth
Thursday, August 10, 2023, 10 – 11:30 am

In our walking workshops, we’ll listen to Asher B. Durand’s advice to “go first to Nature to learn to paint landscape” as we explore the museum’s trails with naturalist Ed Kanze and plein air artist Sandra Hildreth. Ed and Sandra will invite participants to slow down and look closely as we dive into the natural history of the region and practice creating small observational studies.

Each session will start with pencil studies and move into watercolors (or participants can continue with pencils, if preferred). During the program, we will focus on individual elements in nature rather than producing a finished landscape.
All participants will receive a nature journal for taking notes and creating their observational sketches.
Pre-registration required.
Details and registration HERE.
