The Bookstore Plus Hosts
Sidewalk Signing Event with author, Linda Elovitz Marshall
Saturday, September 9, 2023, 1 – 3 pm
Author Linda Elovitz Marshall will autograph copies of her newest book Bob Marshall: Defender of the Wilderness.
Bob Marshall: Defender of the Wilderness features the Adirondack hero and one of the original Adirondack 46’ers. Almost single-handedly, Bob Marshall managed to have more than five million acres of wilderness preserved. He started The Wilderness Society and was the first (along with his brother and friend Herb Clark) to hike the Adirondack High Peaks. Marshall, who was Jewish, put an end to discriminatory practices in the U.S. National Forests that prohibited Blacks and Jews from using resorts on Forest Service lands in the West and South.
Linda Elovitz Marshall’s careers have included: sheep farmer, anthropologist, bookstore owner, teacher, and author of award-winning books. Many of her almost two dozen books are set on her farm or inspired by nature. Linda and Bob now divide their time between the Adirondacks and NYC.
