The Haunted Hamlet
Saturday, October 28, 2:30 – 8 pm
Join us on Main Street in Essex, NY for a Halloween Carnival and enter the North Country’s spookiest haunted house…if you dare!
The fun begins at 2:30 pm with pumpkin painting, a kid-friendly “Halloween Hunt” and a spooky story time presented by the Belden Noble Memorial Library. The Haunted Town Hall opens at 4pm. The first hour is “scare free” with “full scare tours running through 8 pm.
When you’ve had your fill of thrills, join us on Main Street! The block in front of Town Hall will be closed to automobiles for music, dancing, food trucks, hot cider, craft vendors, games, s’mores around the campfire, and more! Mouse Taxidermy Workshop
October 28, 2023, 10 am – 5 pm
Learn about the fascinating anatomy of mammals and traditional mammal taxidermy. This class is designed for beginners with an interest in taxidermy. No matter the experience level, all are welcome!
Students will learn everything they need to create their very own mouse taxidermy mount, from proper skinning, degreasing/washing to sculpting, mounting, and finishing. Students will watch a skinning and fleshing demonstration, and proceed to work with professionally-cleaned and tanned skins. This will allow the students to focus on the finer details of creating a finished piece, and practice specific mounting techniques, like carving, fitting, and modifying a form, sewing, assembly, and grooming.
Pre-registration required. $285 for ADKX Members; $315 for Non-Members

Jackalope Taxidermy Workshop
October 29, 2023
10:00 am – 5:00 pm
This class is designed for beginners to learn professional level techniques used in small mammal taxidermy. By focusing on the facial features, students will create a shoulder mount that can be affixed to a plaque or hung as is. Students will learn everything they need to create their very own rabbit or jackalope taxidermy mount, from proper skinning, degreasing/washing, to sculpting, mounting, and finishing.. Students will learn the traditional methods of sculpting and carving a bust to create a shoulder mount form.

Halloween Trunk-or-Treat, Parade & Party – Inlet
October 27, 5:30 pm
Check out the Halloween experience in Inlet!
Trunk-or-Treat (sponsored by the InletCommunity Church) starts at 5:30 p.m. in their parking lot.
Then meet downtown, in the parking lot between the churches at 6:30 p.m., and we will parade through town to Arrowhead Park.
Costume judging will be held after the parade at the Inlet Volunteer Emergency Services building and everyone in costume will receive a bag of treats to take home.

Trunk-or-Treat at Up Yonda Farm
Saturday, October 28, 2023, 3 – 6 pm
We’ll be hosting our annual Trunk or Treat event (rain or shine). There will be plenty of goodies for costumed kids, as well as pumpkin decorating, wildlife exhibitions and free books.
Dress up in your Halloween best and Trick-or-Treat among decorated vehicles, decorate your own pumpkin, and check out wildlife exhibitions that will include a live raptor display. This event is open to all ages.
