Snowflake Bentley Storytime & Craft

Wednesday, December 27, 2 pm

Looking for something to do over winter break? Join us here at the Chapman Museum for a storytime about Snowflake Bentley followed by a craft.

Participants will learn about Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley and his life’s work photographing snowflakes. We will read the book Snowflake Bentley and then make paper snowflakes.

This program is intended for children ages 5-12, but is open to all.

This program is free but requires a reservation. To register, please call (518)793-2826. Parental participation is encouraged and supervision is required.

North Country Jazz Project

Thursday, December 28, 2023, 7:30 – 9:30 pm

The North Country Jazz Project is an eighteen piece big band directed by David Hosley. The group includes saxes, trumpets, trombones, and rhythm section. We perform big band music from the libraries of Buddy Rich, Count Basie, Maynard Ferguson, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Glen Miller, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman as well as more recent jazz orchestra composers such as Alan Baylock, Chuck Mangione, and Sammy Nestico. The band has been together for ten years and has many loyal followers.

Downtown Caroling

Friday, December 22, 2023, 5 – 7 pm, free (donations gratefully accepted)

Join us to celebrate the start of the Christmas weekend with an evening of caroling. At 5 pm we will meet in the historic Strand Center Theatre to learn and rehearse Christmas carols. Then, take the show on the road! We will be walking around Downtown Plattsburgh to spread holiday cheer to local businesses and community members with a culmination at the Christmas tree on the front lawn of Strand Center for the Arts.
