The 2024 Potsdam Town Hall Exhibition Series is developed and curated by Sharon H.J. Cheng, an artist working with SLC Arts through the Creatives Rebuild New York grant program.

Mimosa & Make: Intro to Watercolor

Saturday, January 20, 10 am – 12 pm, Ages 21+

Sip on a mimosa while you learn the basics of watercolor technique!

All materials and one mimosa included in the class registration fee, with a cash bar to purchase additional drinks.

This class is the first in a series of paint & sips serving as fundraisers for the renovation project at the Creative Spirit Community Arts Center.

Bread Basket with Warming Stone

Saturday, January 20, 2024, 10 am – 1 pm

In this workshop, you will make a 5” X 11” bread basket. There will be a selection of accent colors available, and a choice of a pottery “warming” stone to use in the base of your bread basket. You will be learning the basic under/over weave, which is perfect for first time weavers.

The workshop is intended for ages 12 and up. No experience is necessary. All materials are included in the cost of the class.

The presenter, Barbara Green, has been featured in several of View’s exhibitions, including Art of Craft, running December 9 – March 1, 2024.

Sober Open Minded Mic

Spotlight artist: Jeffrey Wanzer Dupra

Friday, January 19, 2024, 6 (signups) – 9 pm

At each Sober Open Minded Mic there are ten, 10-minute performance slots and a ½ hour spotlight artist.
Spotlight artists have included a renowned tabla player, a high school stand-up comic, electric and acoustic performers. Open mic participants have included poets and folk musicians, electric guitarists and pianists performing covers and originals.

Cold Chocolate is a genre-bending Americana band that fuses folk, funk, and bluegrass to create a unique sound all their own.

The HOWL Grand Slam

Winning storytellers from this year’s slams will compete head-to-head, telling stories in line with this year’s theme, Achilles Heel.
