A Kickass Workshop

Stand-up for Storytellers

Saturday, June 8, 10 am

Part of our 2024 Kickass Writers Festival, Stand-up for Storytellers is a workshop for storytellers looking to up their game. Join comedy expert Nathan Hartswick to learn the keys to workshopping a funny story and presenting it in a way that gets consistent laughs from a live audience. No comedy experience required!

A ticket to this event also includes admission to our Kickass Stand-up Show at the Waterhole at 7:30 pm that evening MC’d by Hartswick featuring Greg Edwards and Tracy Dolan.

As part of the 2024 Kickass Writers Festival, ACW presents the Regional Author Showcase! We’ve selected a line-up of emerging and established authors from across the North Country to prove that Adirondack writers kick ass too.
Hosted by Christopher Shaw, with readings by local and regional writers of various genres: Robin Caudell, Kelsey Francis, Amy Godine, Alice P. Green, Betsy Kepes, Roger Mitchell, Curt Stager, Annie Stoltie, and more.

Opening reception Friday, June 7, 5 – 7 pm

Nancy Brossard and Mary Woodcock Johnson are the featured artists for June at the Adirondack Artists Guild with their collection, “Seasons.”

This is a collaboration and extension of their current show at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. Over the years, Nancy and Mary have been painting together in plein air. Brossard works in oils and Woodcock Johnson in acrylic and watercolor.

They both find inspiration for painting in nature, taking in light and color in its purest form.

Stitched in Time: 1850-1950 Quilts

Saturday, June 8, 2024 – Sunday, January 5, 2025
Exhibition opening from 10 to 4, June 8, with refreshments, crafts, and other activities.

“Stitched in Time” comprises quilts and textiles, but at the heart of the exhibition is how the craft and resulting quilting bees shaped the social, economic, and political lives of early Americans, particularly women.
