Venue Change for CATS Essex Quarry Piano Concert Due to Rain!

Due to the forecasted rain, the Ben Cosgrove piano concert, co-hosted by Piano By Nature and originally scheduled to take place at the Champlain Area Trails Essex Quarry Nature Preserve tomorrow, Saturday, June 29th, has been moved indoors. (See ADK A&E e-News # 401 HERE for info on the concert)

The new location for the concert is the beautiful Essex Community Church at 274 NYS Route 22, situated at the corner of 2306 Main Street and Route 22, in Essex, NY. This cozy, weatherproof venue will provide the perfect setting for an enjoyable, music-filled evening.

The beautiful church, designed by architect T.S. Whitby, was constructed using blue stone from Willsboro Point and also stones from the Essex Quarry. It promises an ambiance that will enhance Ben Cosgrove’s piano playing, and the use of stones from the Essex Quarry adds a delightful touch, making it feel like the concert is taking place right there at the quarry.

We apologize for any inconvenience this change caused and appreciate your understanding. The concert will still start at 5 p.m. in the new, drier location.

Thank you for your support and understanding. We look forward to scheduling another musical event at the Essex Quarry Nature Preserve when the weather is more favorable.

Pendragon Announces Major Support for New Theatre

Groundbreaking Event:
Tuesday, July 2, 4 – 5 pm

Pendragon will host a free-to-the-public groundbreaking event at its future home, 56 Woodruff Street in Saranac Lake. Ahead of the groundbreaking, National Grid has announced a grant of $250,000 for the project and the Adirondack Park and Catskill Park Community Smart Growth Grant has awarded $300,000 for the facility.

Pendragon has revved up fundraising this year to close the gap on its goal as they move towards construction. Between a highly successful Founders Day event and matching gifts from individual donors, it’s been a successful year so far as the new facility looks to open its doors in 2026.

In operational support, we received $100,000 from the Shubert Foundation, which supports year round programming including the launch of their new play Tracks which will premiere Off-Broadway in September.

The theatre is inviting the community to celebrate groundbreaking, which will include remarks from Pendragon community members, officials and donors who have helped to make the new theatre a reality. They will share the renderings of our new facility and answer any questions you might have.

Beer, wine, snacks and special pendragon treats will be provided.

Details on the new theatre HERE.
