The Bookstore Plus Presents

Where’s Waldo?

Waldo, the iconic children’s book character, is coming to Lake Placid this July to help spread the “Buy Local” message.

The Bookstore Plus will be hosting Find Waldo Local, an exciting monthlong scavenger hunt to find Waldo in twenty-five participating local businesses. The program has taken place since 2012, with hundreds of bookstores and thousands of other local businesses participating.

Families love joining the scavenger hunt to find the iconic children’s book character, with his red and white striped shirt and black glasses, hidden in 25 local businesses, including The Bookstore Plus!

To join in the fun, people can pick up a “Find Waldo in Lake Placid!” stamp card at any of the participating stores. With each miniature Waldo they spot, searchers get their card stamped or signed by the participating shop. Eagle-eyed hunters can also look for Waldo’s special 2024 gold medal hidden in The Bookstore Plus!

Collecting store stamps or signatures at 20 or more stores will entitle seekers entry into a grand-prize drawing for Waldo books and other prizes!

All participants are welcome to attend the celebration party at The Bookstore Plus on Saturday, July 27th at 3 pm.

Indigenous Gifts: Traditions, Today & Tomorrow |

Tuesday, July 16, thru Saturday, September 14, 2024

Indigenous Gifts: Tradition, Today and Tomorrow is a festival celebrating the art and culture of the Indigenous people of the Adirondacks. We want to acknowledge their profound relationship with, and stewardship of, these mountains, lakes and streams long before the arrival of European settlers. We hope to advance deeper knowledge and understanding of the continued vibrancy of Haudenosaunee arts and culture, as embodied by the performers, artists and storytellers who are participating in this festival. We are deeply grateful to the Haudenosaunee participants who have agreed to share their cultural traditions with all who come to the festival.

The show features the work of current Indigenous artists. and is curated by David Kanietakeron Fadden who runs the Six Nations Iroquois Cultural Center in Onchiota, New York. Artists were selected by Mr. Fadden.
