A Wonderful Evening

We enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Rolling Hills Estate Winery’s Farm to Table Feast & Wine Pairing. The setting is beautiful and the hosts beyond gracious.

Chef Vittorio Lanni’s farm-fresh dishes, five courses in all, were amazing and his introduction to each course added to our appreciation of the meal. And, the wines—oh my! Truly spectacular and learning where the grapes for each had grown on the various properties was a unique experience.

If you want a truly spectacular dinner to celebrate an occasion or just want an out-of-the-ordinary experience, contact melissa@RollingHillsEstateWinery.com or 914.844.1068 for more details and to RSVP.

Kontiwennenhá:wi ~ Akwesasne Women Singers

Traditional Mohawk Music, sung by Elizabeth Nanticoke, Theresa ‘Bear’ Fox, Iawentas Nanticoke, Tekonwakwenni Nanticoke

Thursday, July 25, 7:30 pm

In the fall of 1996, a group of women and girls from Ahkwesahsne, gathered to sing what is known as Onhwentsiakehkha (Of the Earth) Songs, also known as social dance songs of the Longhouse people.

Traditionally, men and boys sang these songs at the Longhouse social dances, and this holds true today. The songs were also being sung at the Ahkwesahsne Freedom School as part of their traditional teachings and there, both boys and girls sang together. This is when a group of women and girls, mothers and daughters, aunties and nieces, decided they would gather and sing the songs too.

Ticonderoga Pencil Sculpture Dedication

Thursday, July 25, 2024, 4:30 pm

The Ticonderoga Heritage Museum & Visitor Center will hold a dedication ceremony and celebration for its new Pencil Sculpture. As part of the ceremony a ribbon cutting in coordination with the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce will be held.

The Pencil Sculpture is composed of six Dixon Ticonderoga No.2 yellow pencils in a conical style circular arrangement, and is the work of artist and designer Chris Sharp, fabricated by Richard Bertsche, and painted by A&S Customs Autobody & Repair and Ron Pritt with generous funding donated by Denise Huestis, a former Museum Trustee and continuing supporter of the Heritage Museum. American Graphite, once a thriving business here, mined and refined the graphite which went into the production of these pencils, and which gave them their still famous name. This sculpture is intended to memorialize this important piece of Ticonderoga’s industrial heritage.

Following the approximate 30-minute ceremony, the museum will be open for light refreshments and for all to view the exhibits which illustrate Ticonderoga’s industrial history along La Chute River.

More info HERE.
