NorthWind Fine Arts Gallery Presents
Collage Opening Reception
Friday, August 2, 5 – 7 pm
All are invited to a casual opening for member artists Lee Ann Sporn and Shawn Halperin’s new exhibit Collage.
Shawn works in four different mediums—mixed media, oils, wood carvings and jewelry. This new collection includes mixed media collage using various combinations of paper, bark, oil on canvas and wood.
Lee Ann enjoys using a variety of mediums to create abstract pieces but also detailed scientific illustration style drawings in acrylic and colored pencil. The new collection includes abstract pieces created using papers, acrylic paint, pencil, charcoal and pastel crayons. She is experimenting with scaling up to create works of larger size.
Shawn has a unique knack for simplifying the complexity found in nature while bringing out the whimsy and allure that attracts us to it.
In her pieces, Lee Ann attempts to give the viewer a glimpse of the complexity, energy and movement she observes during a moment in time in the natural world—”the happening.”

Lynn Savarese’s Ode to Water and Trees
Thursday, August 8 – Saturday, September 21
Opening reception Thursday, August 8, 5 – 7 pm in the Gallery @ LPCA
For Lynn Savarese, the greatest joy of photography is experiencing the intimate observation of elements from the natural world. Both water and trees—in all of their manifestations and seasons—are her favorite subjects to capture. As humankind’s most intimate and nurturing companions in Nature, both water and trees provide for us in countless essential ways, and Savarese’s O_de to Water and Trees_ exhibition is meant to honor them and express the great wonder and profound gratitude they inspire in her.

TPC Presents
Star Lab
Wednesday, August 7: Session 1: 10 – 11 am, Session 2: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
Free but donations will be appreciated.
Get an introduction to the celestial motions of the Sun, Moon and Earth and learn about the phases of the moon and eclipses, then come inside our inflatable planetarium to view the night sky during the day! In our planetarium, the StarLab, you’ll learn to identify some of the constellations in the Northern Hemisphere, the stars they’re made up and hear the lore behind them.
Our StarLab can comfortably hold 18 adults, or a combination of 22 adults and children. We do not recommend this program for children under the age of 5 due to the nature of needing to be able to quietly sit still in this enclosed area during the program, as the shape of the StarLab amplifies all sounds inside. Please note that attendees will need to crawl through a 3’ high tunnel to get into the planetarium, and seating is on pads on the floor on the inside.
Children and adults. Children must be older than 5. Refreshments: will be served.
Reservations required due to space limitations: Please letting us know you are attending by calling (518) 251-2505 or sending an email to: director@tannerypondcenter.org. Please indicate which session you would like to attend.
