Adirondack A&E e-News # 438
A Message for ADK A&E Subscribers…
When we began Adirondack A&E back in December 2021, we planned to get the news service established and turn to fundraising at some point down the road. Our two main goals have always been to show readers how much there is to do in and around the park, and to help arts-related organizations thrive by sending more patrons their way.
Somehow, almost three years have slipped by and we are doing our first real request for support from our subscribers.
It’s become even more critical in the past weeks, as we had to find another company to handle the e-News’ delivery on very short notice—we told the whole sad story in Adirondack A&E e-News # 430, which you can read or reread HERE.
As we mention in that post, this change has been expensive: The new company, AWeber, costs about three times as much as the previous company did, and the move (the “migration” in the vernacular) alone cost a bundle in fees and contracting services, not to even mention the hours of our time involved.
But it was mandatory so we could keep Adirondack A&E going.
We hear from so many of you—artists and patrons alike—how much this news service means to you, how it’s raised the curtain to reveal just how much is going on in the Adirondack Park in art and craft galleries and performing arts centers, including theater, concerts and musical performances, along with museums, restaurants, nightclubs and breweries.
We also hear just how much you use the Event Calendar on the website, the hands-down most comprehensive event calendar available anywhere (“no brag just fact,” as Will Sonnett said in The Guns of Will Sonnett). See the Event calendar HERE.
There is no charge to receive the ADK A&E e-News, nor does it cost anything to post your event or activity on the website’s calendar—but it is definitely NOT free. In addition to paying for the e-News to be sent to you, we pay for website hosting and maintenance and have hired a part time helper to monitor the Event Calendar (a BIG job—thank you, Stef!)
So now we’re asking for your help and to make a donation to ADK A&E. You can make a secure online donation HERE.
You can make a single donation or set up a monthly donation of a modest amount; that’s an easy option to set up when donating online and spreads your donation out over any term you wish.
Or, if you prefer, you can send a check to Jay Community News, PO Box 422, Jay, NY 12941.
Whatever amount you can give, we appreciate your support—thank you!
And please never hesitate to get in touch and share your thoughts with us—we love hearing from you.
