Wilder Homestead Presents
Harvest Fest & Civil War Living History
Saturday & Sunday, September 28 & 29
A very special Civil War Days event, featuring the full-size replica of the CSS H. L. Hunley submarine!
Step back in time and experience the life and times of our forefathers during this difficult, dangerous, and violent chapter in American history with the historical experience offered by the NYSV 118th Adirondack Regiment of Civil War Re-enactors.
Spectators get to experience realistic recreations of the battles and skirmishes that occurred during the 1860s war and learn about the daily-life events that ensued during the Civil War era. Observing the skirmish reenactments, weapons drills, military camp life, and recreations of incidents and occurrences that were regularly taking place at that time teaches people about war, wartimes, and the history of our country.
Visitors can meet and talk with re-enactors, experiencing a journey through time, as they share insights and stories about our nation’s past.
This year, the Almanzo Wilder Farm, in partnership with the 118th NYSV Adirondack Regiment, will be hosting a full-size replica of the CSS H. L. Hunley; an oar-propelled submarine employed by the government of the Confederate States of America.
