Elizabethtown Social Center & ADK Center for Writing Present
Sloths, Lizards and Poems!
Saturday, November 16, 2 – 4 pm, free, no RSVP necessary. (Kids can drop into the workshop at any time during the event)
Who can resist cuddling a sloth or touching a real live lizard?! On Saturday, November 16, Lena the Lizard Lady brings her exotic menagerie to the Elizabethtown Social Center, where kids can hang out with an astonishing assortment of lizards, snakes and Lena’s lovable sloths. Lena takes her animal crew to many schools and kids’ events around the North Country.
Alongside Lena, award-winning children’s book author Linda Marshall will be on hand to guide kids in writing poems, cartoons and short stories inspired by the animals. Or kids can illustrate her not-yet-published children’s book! She will adjust writing prompts to accommodate all ages. Art materials will be available for illustrating. And we will create a special “library” page on the Social Center website to post the fun results!
Elizabethtown Social Center is partnering with the ADK Center for Writing for this event. The Social Center has identified a need in the North Country for more Children’s Enrichment Programming and will be partnering with artists, musicians and other organizations to do so. To keep track of our events for both adults and children, subscribe to our monthly newsletter HERE.
