Adirondack A&E e-News # 502

Dr. Evan P. Sullivan, assistant professor of history at SUNY Adirondack, will present the journey behind his new book, Constructing Disability after the Great War: Blind Veterans in the Progressive Era.
In this relaxed discussion, Dr. Sullivan will share the challenges and discoveries of his research, as well as the emotional insights that shaped his writing. He will also reflect on how his research led him to reconsider his own perceptions of blindness.
In Constructing Disability after the Great War: Blind Veterans in the Progressive Era, Dr. Sullivan investigates the rich lives of blind soldiers and veterans from the First World War and their families to reveal how they confronted barriers, gained an education, earned a living, and managed their self-image while continually exposed to the public’s scrutiny of their success and failures.
