Fiddler on the Roof

Friday, April 4, 7 pm

Saturday, April 5, 7 pm

Sunday, April 6, 2 pm

Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.

Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof’s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.

With iconic and beloved songs such as “Sunrise, Sunset,” “If I Were a Rich Man” and “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” Fiddler on the Roof is the perfect mix of audience-pleasing humor and heart.

Kids’ Art Program at Tannery Pond

Attracts Johnsburg Kids—and a Stewarts Grant

Tannery Pond Center’s long standing Kids’ Art programming including art instruction to Johnsburg youngsters year-round, displaying art from the Johnsburg Central School in their annual student show at the Widlund Gallery and offering other free programming for youth has won a Stewarts grant to help fund the programming in 2025.

The two-hour instructional art sessions are held quarterly at Tannery Pond and weekly during the summer at the Johnsburg Farmers’ Market, attracting youngsters ranging in age from 4 to 12, although older artists are always welcome.

Projects undertaken recently have included decorating birdhouses, painting pumpkins, creating holiday cards, decorating wooden Christmas nutcrackers, and adding lively snowmen to the town’s landscape. At the Kids Art workshop on April 12, from 12-2 pm, youngsters will work on art projects celebrating Spring and Easter.
