The View Arts Center Announces
On behalf of the View Arts Center Board of Directors, I would like to announce that our Executive Director, Catherine Underhill, has informed us of her intention to retire, effective June 1st.
Since arriving in Old Forge in 2022, Catherine has had a significant and very positive impact on both View and the broader Old Forge community. Under her leadership, Catherine expanded collaboration between View and many of the area’s non-profit businesses, revitalized our public and private grants program, improved View’s financial stability with the launch of an Endowment Fund, and expanded View’s busy year-round calendar of performances, exhibitions, events, and workshops. We are deeply grateful for her wisdom, dedication, leadership, and the many innovations she brought to View.
In preparation for this transition, the View Board has formed a search committee to lead the effort to identify our next Executive Director. The committee will be co-chaired by Cindy Dowd Greene and Susanah Howland, active board members and accomplished leaders. Additional members of the search committee include Manny Cominsky, Andrew Ward, Ingrid Narken, Jeanie West, and Pamela Rosenthal.
We are retaining an executive search firm. Interested candidates may contact View Board members Cindy Dowd Greene or Susanah Howland at viewsearch@viewarts.org.
We have a vibrant Summer Season planned and we look forward to welcoming many of you back to View for programs for residents and visitors of all ages. To see all the excitement scheduled so far, you can visit HERE.

The View Arts Center Presents
The Sound of Murder: A Murder Mystery Dinner
Saturday, April 26, 2025, 5:30 – 9 pm
High on a hill died a lonely goatherd, and some people around the Abbey are beginning to get the idea that sweet little Maria just might be a budding serial killer. Is she now at sixteen, going on seventeen? What exactly are her favorite things? Mother Abbess and her new assistant, Sister Adolph, are calling in all nuns and townsfolk to decide what to do. Even the pompous Captain Von Trampp and his bratty children will be there. Don’t be late. You don’t want Sister Adolph shaking her carrot at you!
View’s doors will open at 5:30 pm when you’ll be able to avail yourselves of the cash-bar and mingle with your fellow mystery solvers. But make sure you’re seated in Gould Hall by 6 pm so you don’t miss any clues! You will soon find yourselves among some pretty suspicious looking characters! Intrigue, and hilarity will certainly ensue! A delicious catered buffet dinner awaits you as you sift through evidence and try to figure out “Who done in the lonely goatherd!”
Tickets are HERE.

A Gardening Workshop by Cathlene Heideman
Saturday, April 26, 2025, 12 – 3 pm
Tomato and basil go great together on a plate. Did you know they also do well together in the garden? Join us for a workshop on companion planting. We will learn why certain flowers, herbs, vegetables, and fruits thrive better when planted near each other and why according to the research. The discussion will also include dealing with pests, attracting beneficials, care and feeding of mixed gardens. We will create a mini companion plant garden to take home. This will be fun as well as interesting for all gardeners- newbies and pros.
Cathy Heideman is a Master Gardener for Warren County. She has grown all varieties of plants in many habitats as she has lived all over the country in the past 30 years. She is a native New Yorker and lived 20 years in the Boston area so is well versed in the north growing seasons and plants that do well up here and those that do not.
