Downtown Artist Cellar Participates in Poem Village 2025

Downtown Artist Cellar (DAC) is excited to announce its participation in the 10th annual Poem Village, a community-centered initiative led by the Adirondack Center for Writing (ACW). This event celebrates local poetry by showcasing it in shop windows throughout the North Country region.
Through Saturday, May 17, over 240 poems from writers across the area—including poetry from Malone Central School students—will be displayed in the downtown districts of participating communities, creating an engaging, accessible experience for residents and visitors alike.
With the help of dedicated volunteers and local businesses, DAC proudly hung all 240 posters and cleaned storefront windows to ensure the poems shine.
In collaboration with ACW and regional partners including SLC Arts in St. Lawrence County, Outside Art: Plattsburgh Public Art Project in Plattsburgh and DAC is honored to help bring Poem Village to Malone, supporting creativity and self-expression across the community.
This growing initiative, originally launched in Saranac Lake, now includes
St. Lawrence County, Plattsburgh, and more—fostering a regional celebration of poetry and the arts.

The View Arts Center Presents
Ceramic Surface Decoration with Sodium Silicate
Saturday, April 26, 12 – 4 pm

This technique can be used both for wheel thrown and hand built items. Julia and Kay will demo both options. Wheel throwers and hand builders will then be able to create their own pieces and watch them crackle in front of their eyes. View will fire and glaze completed pieces to be picked up at a later date.
To create a wheel thrown piece, throwing experience is a must. Hand built pieces are beginner friendly.
