Upper Jay Art Center Presents
Play Reading: The Christians by Lucas Hnath
Thursday, May 29, 7 pm
Join us for a site-specific staged reading of this thought-provoking play by Lucas Hnath. Held in the historic church in Upper Jay (across the street from Upper Jay Art Center and Recovery Lounge).
ABOUT THE PLAY: Twenty years ago, Pastor Paul’s church was nothing more than a modest storefront. Now he presides over a congregation of thousands, with classrooms for Sunday School, a coffee shop in the lobby, and a baptismal font as big as a swimming pool. Today should be a day of celebration. But Paul is about to preach a sermon that will shake the foundations of his church’s belief. A big-little play about faith in America – and the trouble with changing your mind.
PERFORMED BY: Chris Radey, Christopher Locke, Beth Zick, Bob Andrews and Courtney Allen. DIRECTED BY: Gabrielle Schutz.
Pay-what-you-wish. Due to limited seating we suggest rsvp(ing) to info@upperjayartcenter.org or online HERE.

The Adirondack Experience Presents
Meet The 2025 ADKX Artists-In-Residence
The ADKX is pleased to announce the four artists selected for its new Artist-in-Residency program. This year, artists will live and work on site for one month, in June, July, August, and September.
During the residency periods, the artists will focus on creating their own body of work within the public areas of the museum grounds and guide activities in the museum’s Art Lab makerspace. The intention of this program is for artists to engage with the public while spending time pursuing their own creative works and be inspired by the natural areas that comprise and surround the museum’s campus, as well as key objects and stories within the collection.
Artists were selected through a highly competitive application process. The museum received 114 applications from artists in 41 different countries and six continents. Submissions included artists who work in a range of mediums including sound, digital, animation, painting, photography, sculpture, and performance.
The four artists selected are:
