Outside Art: Plattsburgh Public Art Project Presents
The Poets’ Mural
Outside Art: Plattsburgh Public Art Project (OA), announces their most recent mural project in downtown Plattsburgh. The Poets’ Mural, in collaboration with Clinton County Historical Association and Museum and The City of Plattsburgh, will celebrate the lives of Plattsburgh poets, and sisters, Lucretia and Margaret Davidson.
During the first two weeks of June, artist Brendon Palmer-Angell (painter of the Jean Arthur Mural and the Reach for the Stars! The Michael Anderson Mural) is painting the portraits of the notable young American writers. Originally from Plattsburgh and now based in New Orleans, Brendon has made a name for himself creating more than a dozen murals in New York and Louisiana.

The Chapman Museum’s Conversations with the Past Presents
The History of Joshua’s Rock on Lake George
Speaker: Janie Davies Fitzgerald
Wednesday, June 11, 7 pm
On the southwestern shore of Dunhams Bay on Lake George rests a unique family compound consisting of a five-acre clearing, six family houses, a family graveyard, a caretaker’s house, a little barn, many acres of woods, and a public library. A woodcarved and vividly painted sign done by one of the family artists and displayed on 9L proudly proclaims that it is “Joshua’s Rock.”
This lake property has been in the same local family since 1812, and the descendants of Reuben Seelye continue to work hard to be stewards of the land and the stories and artwork it has inspired.
An eighth-generation family member, who is also a retired English teacher and family historian, looks forward to sharing her family property and its history with you.

The Strand Center for the Arts Presents
Fiber Arts Group
Wednesday, June 11, 2025, 2 – 5 pm
We invite you to join us at the Strand on the 2nd Wednesdays of the month from 2 to 5 pm. Come for the entire time or to drop in to see what we are doing!
This group will consist of makers who create in fiber (yarn, fabric, thread, spinning fibers, cane, etc, etc, etc) and strive to be not just makers but more. By sharing what they are creating, they can learn so much from each other and be inspired to try new things. Weavers may knit into their handwoven fabrics, quilters might stitch into their quilted pieces, knitters might add hands-spun fibers into their hand knitted items, spinners can explore different fibers to knit or weave… there are so many possibilities of ways weaving might cross pollinate. Artists can learn to use patterns by viewing them as starting points and explore how to make them our own. By thinking “outside the box” fiber artists can create something special, something unique, something no one else has ever made in the same way.
Each session will start with introductions and then move into sharing what the fiber artists have made either recently or in the past – a show and tell – that might last 30 seconds or 5 minutes. This type of informal setting can harbor a safe space for learning from each other and nurture creative souls.
The group encourages you to bring what you’re are working on and eventually break into small interest groups as time allows to further discuss the works.
