Adirondack A&E e-News # 55

TEEN WRITING LOUNGE NOW OPEN!
From Basement to Amazement: ACW’s Teen Writing Lounge
Last fall we created Open Hours (3-5PM) to invite adults into our main space…and now we’re offering those same hours for middle and high school students to have a quiet place to write, read, and build community in our TEEN WRITING LOUNGE! We’re also booking school group visits, so if you’re a teacher or administrator who would like to bring a group of under 30 kids, we’d love to host you sometime this spring.
Open each weekday from 3-5 pm. Teens may drop by, no appointment necessary.
Open for group visits. To book, email info@adirondackcenterforwriting.org.

AUTHOR SERIES THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday, April 10 at 2 pm, Virtual
Join author Holly Mayer for a Virtual Author Series as she talks about her new book Congress’s Own: A Canadian Regiment, the Continental Army, and American Union.
Colonel Moses Hazen’s 2nd Canadian Regiment was one of the first “national” regiments in the American Army. Created by the Continental Congress, it drew members from Canada, eleven states, & foreign forces. Congress’s Own was among the most culturally, ethnically, and regionally diverse of the Continental Army’s regiments–a distinction that makes it a reflection of the union that was struggling to create a nation.
Holly Mayer is Professor Emerita of History at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and also the author of Belonging to the Army: Camp Followers and Community during the American Revolution..

CA+MP ARTISTS ARRIVE AT UJAC!
April 10-17: Meghan Frederick & Kate Seethaler
Our first group of CA+MP artists are arriving at the Lounge this Sunday for a very special first-time PARENT RESIDENCY. What’s that? you may be wondering…
Well: It’s an artist residency for parents! Often artists who have young kids are unable to take advantage of creative residencies, opportunities vital to their careers and the artistic development of important projects. We wanted to change that.
So this month, we welcome two dancer/choreographers and collaborators, Meghan & Kate, to live, make, teach, and perform in our space… with their kids.
HERE are some ways you can experience their work and support them as they complete a 2-year work-in-progress, Carnivore. All-levels movement workshop with our April Artists-in-Residence information is HERE.
