The Widlund Gallery at Tannery Pond Center presents
Down by the River by Andy Mitchell
Tuesday, June 24 – Saturday, August 2
Reception: Friday, June 27, 5 – 7 pm
This show brings together a group of paintings made over the last four years. There isn’t one unifying theme — the pieces were created at different times, in different moods and locations.
Much of the work leans into abstraction, often using bright colors, simple geometry, and fragments of human figures or street scenes. Some are based on observation; others come from memory or imagination. They don’t follow a system or theory. They’re just what came out.

The Downtown Artists Cellar’s Thrive Project Presents
Student-Created Window Installation on Main Street
A new student-designed, 2D-inspired window installation is taking shape at 428 East Main Street, Malone, created by six middle school students as part of a pilot workshop led by North Country artist Liza Labarge Paige. The display will be unveiled by the end of the school year, replacing the winter installation that previously animated the storefront.
This project is part of The Creative Lounge, a new after-school initiative from The Thrive Project, with a full launch planned for September 2025. Designed to offer small-group, artist- led workshops for creative youth, the pilot invites students to reimagine a world that spans from the era of dinosaurs to a futuristic tomorrow.
