Adirondack A&E e-News # 556

The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts (ALCA) presents
Point of view, an exhibit by Sandra Hildreth
Saturday June 28 thru Sunday July 27
Opening reception Saturday June 28, 2 – 4 pm
Point of View iincludes primarily of plein air paintings, all done in the Adirondacks. The story of the Adirondacks goes from thousands of years of care by the indigenous people, to the economic abuse of westward expansion. We have been rewriting the Adirondack story and the future chapters are being shaped by the ones we are living in.
Hildreth writes “all my paintings tell their own parts of the story, if one looks closely. It might be a record of those days in late October when the tamaracks turn orange, or feature the gentle colors of sunset that transform the eastern sky. This exhibit invites the viewer to examine the paintings and the land – what story do they tell and how do they fit into your story. How can we make sure the story goes on?”
Hildreth will also be one of the artists-in-residence at the Adirondack Experience museum this summer, between the dates of July 20 and August 2. Visitors will be able to chat with and watch Sandra work on new paintings and if attending at the right time, participate in an instructional activity. One of her paintings is now part of the Art & Artists: Inspiration in the Wild permanent exhibit.
And also at ALCA…
