Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory presents
Universal Visions
Opening reception August 22, 5 – 7 pm
The Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory is proud to announce a breathtaking astrophotography exhibition, Universal Visions.
The exhibit features awe-inspiring images of deep space, all captured by attendees of the Adirondack Sky Center’s annual Astrophotography Conference, a four-day immersive experience that draws amateur and professional astrophotographers from across the country.
From swirling galaxies and vibrant nebulae to stunning star clusters, Universal Visions offers visitors a rare opportunity to see the universe through the lenses of those who’ve worked under the pristine dark skies of the Adirondacks—guided by leading experts in the field.
This is the first time the Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory is featuring a public view of large prints of high-resolution images. All of the images have been captured in Tupper Lake at the Sky Center’s Roll Off Roof Observatory during their annual conference last year
Note that the 2025 Astrophotography Conference will be September 18-21; details coming closer to the date.

Tannery Pond Center presents
Taste of Wine
Thursday, August 21, 2025, 6:30 - 8:30 pm
The global era has delivered the world of wine to our doorsteps. We wish to participate, but the staggering diversity of variety, style and price can leave us wide-eyed. Does confronting a Wachau Gruner Veltliner or a Stellenbosch Pilotage make you reach for what’s safe—mass-market wines that lack character or interest? Where’s the fun in that?
The goal for this tasting is to encourage you to explore, and to suggest a few surprisingly simple techniques to boost your confidence. With six wines, we will compare light bodied and full, dry and off dry, and the current release vs. wines with age and development.
We will discuss how to make a fearless selection—to be the person to whom the waiter hands the list—and how to find your shop. We’ll talk about wine and food pairing (first rule: don’t worry about it). And we’ll demonstrate how to open, serve and taste. Most importantly, we will discuss how to arrive at the rim of the glass with an open mind.

Great Camp Sagamore’s Summer Concert Series presents
Drank the Gold
Wednesday, August 20, 2025, 7:15 - 8:30 pm
From Upstate New York, Oona Grady (fiddle/viola/vocals) and James Gascoyne (guitar/banjo/vocals) play and sing North Atlantic dance tunes and folk songs as members of this amazing music venture, Drank the Gold.
Steeped in Irish music for as far back as she can remember, Oona spent many years living in Cork, Ireland, where she honed her skills as a fiddle player and Irish music specialist. Upon moving back to her hometown of Ithaca, NY, Oona immersed herself in the local traditional music scene and incorporated old time and Cajun tunes into her repertoire.
Growing up outside Louisville, KY, James was surrounded by music from an early age; radio, vinyl records, church music, and live concerts were a part of daily life. Finding his own musical style as an adult, James always keeps his ears open for sounds—new, old, familiar, or strange. While singing and playing guitar and banjo with Drank The Gold, he delves into the traditions of American old time and Irish dance tunes, while keeping true to his borderless, experimental musical roots.
