Stoddard photographs show fishing on the Richelieu River
Now until November 2, 2025
A Good Catch features photographs taken by noted Adirondack photographer, Seneca Ray Stoddard (1843-1917). Stoddard took several international trips throughout his career, returning to Glens Falls each time with new stories and photographs to share.
In the Adirondacks, trout were once plentiful in cold mountain streams, offering sport and sustenance. At the same time, the Richelieu River, with its deep historical ties to trade, transport, and conflict, also provided rich fishing grounds for species like northern pike, bass, and walleye. Stoddard’s rare trip to the Richelieu in the 1890s offers a unique visual and historical counterpoint to his Adirondack work.
