Tannery Pond Center Tannery Talk presents the film
April Morning, with an Introduction by Glenn Pearsall
Sunday, September 14, 2025, 7 pm
April Morning (1988) is an adaptation of Howard Fast’s 1961 novel about a teenage boy’s coming of age on the eve of the American Revolution, when the Colonists made their stand on the Lexington green, a great introduction as we begin to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of this nation. It stars Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Urich and Chad Lowe. Its cinematic style is reminiscent of early Disney movies of the 1950s and thus is age appropriate for young children as well.
Glenn Pearsall, a noted local historian and author, will give precede the movie with a talk he has titled “The American Revolution: What They Did Not Tell Us in High School”. Did you know, for instance, that George Washington wanted to be an officer in the British Army or that the victory at Yorktown was due to a sea battle? Or about the Tory raids through Johnsburg and Warren County after the battle of Saratoga?
