Lake Flower Landing presents
Artful Fashion Show
September 28, 4 pm
Martha Jackson, of Restored by Design, highlights her masterful talents to REPURPOSE, REPAIR & REINIVENT women’s clothing and accessories. She calls her pieces Art-to Wear because each one is uniquely feminine, one of a kind, handmade in her studio in the Adirondacks.
She loves to create from pre-loved materials, bygone parts, and sustainably made fabrics designing in a more circular fashion. Her romantic style takes up-cycling to a whole new level. She is driven to do her part to make this a better planet for the future!

Sisters in Survival
Iakonikonriiosta, our Artist-in-Residence for July, has completed the quilt she began during her residency!
From the artist:
“The American Eel population of the St. Lawrence River has dropped from over 2,000,000 to approximately 40,000 in the past 50 years.
“Pollution, environmental change, and the massive turbines of the power dams on the rivers have decimated the eels as they return to the sea to spawn. The quilt depicts the baby eels in the ocean and the healthy eels (95% female) traveling to their freshwater homes. It also depicts the eels after passing through the turbines. Haudenosaunee and our neighbors are also affected by the environmental changes and our way of life is in jeopardy. The Wampum people represent the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Nations along the St. Lawrence River watershed.”
The Quilt is 75×76 made of cotton, wool, and glass beads.
Created and sewn by Iakonikonkonriiosta, 2025
Mature Eel drawn by Gareoji Shoma, 2025
Quilted by Robynne Dorion, 2025
Beadwork by Anna Thompson, 2025
Note that the quilt is not currently in display at ADKX as it was completed after Iakonikonriiosta’s residency. Display information will be shared on ADK A&E e-News as it becomes available.
