Trillium Chamber Music Players

Saturday Oct. 18 at 7 pm, Hand House, Elizabethtown
Sunday Oct . 19 at 2 pm, St. Eustace Church, Lake Placid

There is so much contrast in this program of short delights, we had to design two different flyers. On the one hand are several unusual works including Tarantula for solo viola; Disturbed Nights by John Hawkins, a set of variations inspired by a “mildly disturbing picture;” and an oboe-viola duet entitled Brief Encounters. On the other hand is a lighthearted trio by Pucihar; selections from Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs for voice and piano; and Schoenfield’s heartfelt prayer, Achat Sha’alti for flute and piano.

Downtown Artist Cellar presents

Poetry @ DAC: An Evening of Words and Connection

Thursday, October 16, 7 pm

Downtown Artist Cellar invites the community to an inspiring evening of poetry featuring Craig Milewski and Gianna Montagno. The evening will include featured readings, an open mic to follow, and light refreshments.

Craig Milewski, a poet, painter, and retired professor, resides in the northern Adirondacks. After twenty years teaching at Paul Smith’s College, he now dedicates his time to creative pursuits. His courses ranged from ecology and restoration to creative writing and the humanities, exploring how wilderness and reflection shape an ecological conscience. A graduate of the Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA program, his poems have appeared in Blueline and The Midwest Review. His forthcoming poetry collection, Deliver This Way, will be released by Bee Monk Press of New Hampshire.

Gianna Montagno is a music educator, clarinetist, and arts advocate originally from Delmar, New York. She earned her B.S. in Music Education with a minor in Spanish Translation from The College of Saint Rose (2022) and a Master’s in Clarinet Performance from SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music (2023). Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Music Education, she teaches private lessons and actively advocates for the importance of music and arts education in schools. This event marks the debut of her first book of poetry.

Raising Daughters and Robby Hecht

Saturday, October 18, 2025, 8 pm

Don’t miss this dynamic double-bill show, featuring two acts straight from Nashville! Raising Daughters and Robby Hecht each bring their unique take on progressive country folk.

Raising Daughters ain’t for the weak. The country folk duo, led by Josette Axne and Hallie Riddick, interrogates the ever changing role of a daughter. Grounded in sound that is “reminiscent of The Staves and Indigo Girls with lots of harmony and humor” (Laura Shine, Louisville public media), the Daughters strive to bring perspective to conversations of girlhood, coming of age, and legacy. Hallie, a Kentucky native, and Jo, a Coloradoan born and raised, melded their musical backgrounds and histories to create a nostalgic and rooted sound.

Robby Hecht has been captivating audiences as a touring singer-songwriter for over two decades, combining quietly impactful songwriting reminiscent of Tom Waits or Jim Croce with the graceful vocal resonance of James Taylor. With a remarkable blend of insightful lyricism, memorable melodies, and a voice that carries both strength and tenderness, his music resonates with audiences from all walks of life.
