Adirondack A&E e-News # 609
“I had no idea there was so much going on!”
We hear that a lot. Have you checked out the ADK A&E Event Calendar lately?
It is chock full of wonderful events throughout the ADK and a bit beyond.
You can go to the website HERE and look at upper left for “Events.” The dropdown box will have events sorted by kind—live music, dance, theatre, visual arts and more.
Or, you can just click on “Events” to get to main calendar with all genres included. When there, check out the “List” dropdown menu on the right hand side of the search bar. From this menu you can format the calendar however works best for you, by day, week, month or whatever.
Even easier, you go to any issue of the ADK A&E e-News (like this one!) and look at the masthead, under the date, where you see “ADK A&E Resource Links.” “Events” is the second one down and that will take you directly to the Event calendar.
You’ll need to check back often, because new events are added every day.
If you hold events, are they listed here? They sure should be! Just follow the steps under “Submit Your Event” in the main dropdown box.
And as always, just let us know if we can help.

The Mill Welcomes the Nation’s First-ever Music Semester Program to the North Country
The Mill, which opened last summer as a welcoming new arts center in Westport, NY, will host two events with students from Kinhaven Music School’s inaugural semester program. The Mill’s creative director Taylor Haskins says, “It’s essential to our mission that The Mill becomes an accessible resource to the North Country’s students.”
The four-month residential experience for high-school musicians launched in August and focuses on chamber music, performance, and holistic learning in a creative, community-driven setting. Offered in partnership with Burr and Burton Academy (BBA) in Manchester, VT, the program combines academic coursework at BBA with intensive musical study at Kinhaven, allowing students to grow both artistically and academically in the heart of Vermont.
On October 31 and November 1, The Mill will welcome the Kinhaven Semester Music Program for their only performances in New York. First, they will appear as musical ghosts at Mill-O-Ween, The Mill’s tuneful trick-or-treat event, haunting the halls with their string instruments. On Saturday, November 1st, the students and faculty will perform a program of chamber music starting at 5 pm.

The Mill will be open for trick-or-treating guests of all ages on Friday, October 31 from 4 – 9 pm with the musicians improvising throughout the building until 7 pm. The students and Trillium String Quartet will perform on Saturday, November 1 at 5 pm. There is no charge for either event, but reservations are recommended for the concert and can be made at HERE. More information about Kinhaven’s Semester Music program can be found at HERE.
