The Bookstore Plus and The Lake Placid Public Library Host

Author Layne Fargo in conversation with Adam Reisinger

Friday, November 14, 2025, 2 – 4 pm

The Favorites is an epic love story set in the sparkling, savage sphere of elite figure skating, starring a woman determined to carve her own path on and off the ice.

Layne Fargo  has a background in theater, women’s studies, and library science, so it’s only fitting that she now writes deliciously dramatic, unapologetically feminist stories for a living. She’s the author of psychological thrillers They Never Learn and Temper, as well as co-author on the bestselling Young Rich Widows series, and her work has been translated into over a dozen languages.

Adam Reisinger has been covering sports for more than 30 years, and currently serves as the deputy NBA editor for ESPN. com. He has a passion for figure skating, which earlier this year led him to launch the blog “Kingdom of Ice-olation,” which covers all aspects of skating, from competitions to shows to theatre on ice.

The event is free, but space is limited! Please register HERE.

The Grace of Gratitude

Harp as Spiritual Practice mini-retreat

Monday, November 10, 2 pm, via Zoom

The word “gratitude” has become a word that’s bandied about quite freely these days. This can numb us to the true depth of what gratitude—of what being grateful—can really look, feel, taste, smell, sound like—what it actually can be when we embrace it’s full nature. And how might that look, feel and sound like in relation to our harps, our music, our connection with self and spirit.

During this contemplative retreat we will explore our relationship with our harps, our music and gratitude. We will unfold ways to enrich this relationship, transforming it into a nourishing spiritual practice, deepening connection with self, harp, music and Spirit. Details and registration HERE.
