Henry Knox’s Noble Train of Artillery
Friday, December 12, 3 pm
Commemorate a pivotal moment in Lake George Area history!
The Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance, in tandem with the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution, is proud to present a commemoration of Henry Knox’s Noble Train of Artillery, which passed through Lake George.
In the winter of 1775-1776, Henry Knox made the arduous trip from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston with over 50 cannons and mortars in order to support George Washington’s Continental Army holed up in Boston. This makes for a family-friendly night out.

Tannery Pond Center presents
The McKrells Christmas
Sunday, December 14, 3 pm & 7 pm
The McKrells Christmas has been a tradition for upstate NY families for 30 years. Joining Brian Melick, Arlin Greene, Frank Orsini and Kevin McKrell for the final year of the incredibly successful 30 year run of The McKrell’s Christmas will be ‘Hot Club of Saratoga’ and ‘Heard’ multi instrumentalist Jonathan Greene and Chuck Kish founder and gypsy jazz rhythm guitarist of Hot Club of Saratoga.
The McKrell-Melick interpretation of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” is an absolute classic. It’s the best Marx Brothers routine that the Marx Brothers never did, with Kevin McKrell playing a mix of wisecracking Groucho and straight-man Zeppo, while the bug-eyed, puppy-dog-eager Brian Melick channels Harpo with amazing accuracy.

The Westport Library and the Wadhams Free Library Present
Book Launch Event for Tim Brookes By Hand
Tuesday, December 9, 2025, 7 pm
By Hand, the latest of Tim Brookes’ 23 books, explores three entwined themes.
First: minority cultures all over the world are teaching calligraphy as a way to rediscover their roots and their identity.
Second: exactly the opposite is happening in the U.S., where abandoning handwriting in favor of digital tools and AI separates the generations and discards the many proven benefits of writing by hand.
The third thread, which unites the others, is perhaps the most original of all. It is a subjective exploration of the act of handwriting by a writer whose own writing has been crippled by decades of using first typewriters, then keyboards. The author sets out to rehabilitate his scrawl, and the result is a series of revelations that demonstrate the therapeutic value—scientifically proven over and over but largely ignored—of keeping a journal by hand.
Tim Brookes will read from By Hand and lead a discussion about the value of handwriting and the future of the written word.
