Worldbuilding: Not Just for Fantasy Writers! with Rebecca Pickens

Thursday, January 8 – 8 pm, virtual via Zoom

Worldbuilding isn’t just for fantasy and sci-fi. Every novel and memoir occupies a world, and the more vivid and consistent that world feels, the more your reader believes in your story.

In this session, we’ll look at how to worldbuild in contemporary and realistic fiction and memoir, grounding your characters in place, culture, relationships, and rules of life that shape their choices. Through practical examples and exercises, you’ll see how setting can amplify theme, sharpen conflict, and anchor your characters in a world that feels authentic.

Find out more and register HERE.

North Country Landscapes with Diane DeAngelis: Photographs and Paintings

Tuesday, January 6 – Saturday, February 14
Reception:Friday, January 9, 5 – 7 pm

Artist Statement: My intention with the landscape paintings is to have the viewer feel like they could step right into the piece and go for a stroll.

Many of the pieces you see here are paintings of the local landscapes of the Adirondacks.

The last two summers I vacationed on Lake Champlain where the sunsets are quite amazing.

These photographs are just a few of the hundreds of picture I’ve taken there.
