The Chapman Museum announces
All Aboard! Chapman Adds Hands-On Stations to Transportation Exhibit
The Chapman Museum is excited to announce the expansion of its current exhibition, By River, Road & Rail: How Transportation Shaped Our Communities. Beginning Saturday, January 24, the exhibition will include five interactive stations that engage visitors of all ages.
Transportation has always been more than a means of getting from one place to another. It has shaped how communities develop, how industries grow, and how people connect. In the Glens Falls-Queensbury region and across the Adirondacks, transportation evolved from footpaths and waterways to railroads and highways—each transformation driven by
innovation. These changes not only made travel faster but also altered where people lived, how goods were traded, and how ideas spread. This exhibition explores the local impact of transportation technology, inviting visitors to trace how the Hudson River, roads, and railways influenced both local and statewide history.
The addition of five hands-on interactive stations is designed to deepen visitor engagement and bring historic transportation networks to life. These new elements invite visitors to step into the role of a traveler or shipper, making choices, solving challenges, and piecing together journeys using touch, movement, and problem-solving. Through activities that explore energy sources, road development, cargo logistics, and route planning, the stations highlight how people and goods moved across the region and how different transportation systems worked together.

Visit Lake George Area presents
The Coolest Ice Bars in the Lake George Area
Winter in New York can be frigid. The subzero temperatures keep some people inside, warming their hands in front of the fire and missing out on the wonder of the season. Others embrace the cold, bundling up in heavy coats and thick gloves, to gather around the coolest ice bars in the region.
In the Lake George Area we don’t just tolerate winter—we celebrate it! From elegant lakeside lounges to laid-back village parties carved from ice, you can plan an entire winter weekend around these limited-time, only-in-winter experiences.
What is an ice bar? Using saws and chisels, master artisans sculpt bars made entirely of ice. These flawless and intricate creations become the centerpieces of fancy lounges and local watering holes throughout the Lake George Area. The first ice bars are carved in January, but the ice bar season really hits its stride in February, when winter events and the Lake George Winter Carnival bring everyone outside to celebrate.
