Hill and Hollow Music presents
Kiran Ahluwalia
With her six-piece band led by the virtuoso guitarist Razz Abbasi
Sunday, April 12, 3 pm
Two-time JUNO (Canadian Grammy) winner Kiran Ahluwalia’s open-hearted vocals have established her as one of global music’s most compelling cross-pollinators. Her six-piece band is led by ace guitarist Rez Abbasi whose accolades include the Guggenheim Fellowship and frequent appearances on the Top Ten Guitarists of Downbeat’s International Critics Poll and is rounded out by drum kit, table accordion and organ. Kiran and Rez are a real-life couple, one born in India, the other in Pakistan. Having grown up in the diaspora they crossed ethnic and religious lines between their two warring motherlands to forge a musical and life partnership. Together they craft songs that are equal parts reflective and groovy and bring together the disparate traditions of Indian music, West African Blues and Jazz.

Local Music Series for 2026
First show: Dwayne Haggins Band, with Writers’ Round, Saturday, April 4, 6:30 pm
The 2026 Local Music Series includes tree evenings of storytelling, soul, and seriously good grooves in the Annex theatre—bringing together some of the region’s most talented musicians.
This April, June and December, the Arts Center will host musicians from the area in our intimate Annex Theatre. From Country and American Folk to Jazz and Soul, these performances will blend heartfelt originals with fresh takes on beloved classics.
Series curator Charlie Reinertsen of Twolined Studio says, “I can’t think of a better way to beat the mud season blues than with this show on April 4 featuring Dwayne Haggins. Ever since I first heard Dwayne play in 2014, I’ve been introducing everyone I know to his music. The trio format he’s traveling with is really special, and he’s going to feature songs from his new album, ‘The Straggler.’ I always leave a Dwayne Haggins show feeling energized and uplifted.”
Coming next in the series:
Slough Creek with The Allens, Saturday, June 20, 6:30 pm
Backwoods Brass, Saturday, December 19, 6:30 pm
