A Little Birdie Told Me Takes Flight

at the Paul Smith’s College VIC

The Heron Marsh Gallery at the Paul Smith’s College VIC is spreading its wings once again! After a brief hiatus, the gallery reopens this spring with a new exhibition hosted by Saranac Lake ArtWorks titled A Little Birdie Told Me. This open call invites all artists 18 and older to submit work that celebrates the wonder, mystery, and spirit of birds.

Broad interpretations of the theme are welcome: realistic or naturalist bird imagery, abstract or symbolic interpretations, mythical or folkloric birds, environmental or conservation-focused work, whimsical or narrative pieces, mixed-media explorations of flight, feathers, or sound. If a “little birdie” might whisper it, we want to see it.

All mediums welcome: painting, drawing, photography, fiber, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and more. Work must be original and ready to display with proper framing and backing. Artists submitting 3D work must provide their own display/pedestal.

Artists may enter up to two pieces and should submit images of their work online in advance. The submission deadline is Monday, May 11, 2026. An opening reception will be held Saturday, May 30 from 5-7pm following the Great Adirondack Birding Celebration keynote speaker. The exhibit will be on display May 18-July 26, 2026 and will be open to the public 7 days a week, 9am-5pm.
