Upper Jay Art Center & Recovery Lounge presents
Isaac Newcomb
Saturday, May 23, 2026, 8 pm
Isaac Newcomb plays with texture and introspection, groove and self-deprecating humor in his unique flavor of alternative pop. His warm vocals nestle into soundscapes that blend synthesized and environmental sounds: electric pianos morph into burbling creeks; a kick drum is born from a stomp on the Jackrabbit trail. He hopes his songs provide a space to lose yourself, whether in thought or on the dance floor.

Zombie Fires (And how to stop them)
Thursday, May 21, 6:30 pm
Part of a three-part event series held in downtown Saranac Lake spotlights artists and scientists who are working across disciplines.
Join us in the Oak Room on the second floor of Hotel Saranac, where you will be transported into the mysterious world of peatlands. Once peatlands catch fire beneath the surface, there is very little we can do to stop them. Dive underground to uncover the story behind zombie fires, and how we can keep these climate-disrupting monsters from awakening.
Next, enjoy interviews with local scientists and artists on a wide range of topics that live in the realms of art and science. Questions will be generated by the audience, and interviews will be hosted by Charlie Reinertsen.
Conclude the evening with a show from Slough Creek in the Great Hall Bar.
