Lake Flower Landing presents
Hinterlands
Sunday, May 31, 2026, 4 pm
Hinterlands conjures cinematic soundscapes where tradition meets experimental fire. Violinist Ben Russell and accordionist Matt Schreiber blend Appalachian drones, Balkan rhythms, and avant-garde textures into music that’s both ancient and boldly new. Their performances—spacious, emotional, and thrillingly unpredictable—reveal deep roots and fearless exploration.
With backgrounds spanning Kronos Quartet to Romani function music, this duo dissolves musical borders, creating a world where improvisation and structure dance together. Hinterlands invites you into a wild, resonant journey through sound and feeling.

Tahawus Gallery presents
To the Water
Saturday, May 30 – Sunday, June 27
Opening reception Saturday, May 30,
4 – 6 pm
In To the Water, 10 artists gather around the elemental presence that shapes the Northern Adirondacks—its rivers, streams, wetlands, and the mutable light and life that moves through them. Spanning photography, painting, sculpture, and quilting, the exhibit explores water as boundary, rhythm, memory, and muse. These works honor the way water anchors rural life in the Northern Adirondacks while reminding us of its constant motion and quiet power.
The exhibit features a wide range of disciplines, including paintings by Tim Fortune, Heidi Gero, Stephen Dicerbo, Sandra Hildreth, and Benoit Tonneau; sculptures and ceramics by Carrie Plumadore and Shannon Rock; photography by R. Kelly; quilting by Jessie Notch-LeBlanc; and mixed media by Ashlee Guiles.
Following the reception, the gallery will be open for viewing Saturdays, 2 – 4pm and almost anytime by appointment. To schedule a visit, contact TahawusCenter@gmail.com or admin@tahawuscenter.org.
