Sad news to share
Dan Duggan passes away over the weekend
We are very sorry to let our subscribers know that Adirondack folk music great Dan Duggan succumbed to a stroke this past weekend, according to his family.
Most recently, Dan was probably best known for playing with the Jamcrackers, alongside Peggy Lynn and Dan Berggren, and the the Susquehanna String Band with Rick Bunting and John Kirk.
But, additionally, Dan was also one of the finest dulcimer players and composers in the country, a past recipient of the prestigious National Hammered Dulcimer Championship. His dulcimer work can also be heard on Paul Simon’s CD, You’re the One, released in 2001 and The Paul Simon Collection released in 2005.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Along with so many, we extend our condolences and love to Peggy Lynn and the rest of Dan’s family.

Resources & Services for Artists Presentation at Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts (ALCA)
Saturday, June 6, 2026, 5 – 6 pm
Artists of all disciplines are invited to attend this FREE event hosted by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts (ALCA).
The organizers will share an overview of the resources and services available to support artists’ practices. Whether artists are seeking to raise money to finish a particular project, eliciting feedback on their work, looking for an artist residency, or trying to find a job, NYFA has resources that they can use to help sustain and grow their artistic practice.
One of those resources is NYFA’s “Artist as Entrepreneur” (AaE) programming, held in partnership with arts organizations throughout New York State approximately three times a year. This presentation is part of an AaE Program happening at ALCA Thursday through Sunday, June 4 – 7, 2026. The programs are made possible through the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) State & Local Partnerships grants.
Advance registration for this event is encouraged. To register and learn more, please visit HERE.
