The Two Branches Heritage Society presents

The American Revolution in the Champlain Valley 1775-1783, with Don Wickman, speaker

Monday, June 15, 6:30 pm

In time for the 250th anniversary of the world-changing American Revolution, local researcher and historian Don Wickman will speak on The American Revolution in the Champlain Valley 1775-1783 in the Community Room at the Au Sable Forks. The talk is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted.

The Champlain Valley served as a vital theater in the American Revolution. From the capture of Fort Ticonderoga to the end of the war with the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783, the Champlain Valley and the surrounding region was traversed by military forces from both sides of the conflict.

Wickman, previously the director of the Kent-Delord House Museum in Plattsburgh, has researched and written extensively about regional history.

His book A Very Fine Appearance: The Civil War Photographs of George Houghton, published in 2011 by the Vermont Historical Society, earned an Award of Merit from the American Association of State & Local History. He is considered the authority on the American Revolution site Mount Independence in Orwell, Vt., as well as on Vermont Civil War battle flags.

Seagle Festival Awarded $1.8 Million NYSCA Grant to Expand into Year-Round Arts Destination

Seagle Festival has been awarded a $1.8 million capital grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). The funding will support the construction of two new housing units and a dining/multipurpose hall, anchoring a larger initiative to transform the historic festival into a year-round arts destination for the Adirondack region.

Seagle’s capital expansion project includes infrastructure and site improvements to winterize the campus, with additional plans to build a new, state-of-the-art, 250-seat theater. This expansion will significantly enhance Seagle Festival’s mission to bring top-notch performances to Adirondack residents and visitors, and train the next generation of opera and Broadway stars. It will ensure Seagle Festival continues to be the most highly-regarded program of its kind in the United States, and a pillar of artistic quality in upstate New York.

Charlie Reinertsen of Twolined Studio hosts the Traveling Hoot Show

Reese Fulmer & The Carriage House Band

Monday, June 15, 2026, 7 pm

North Country musicians take the stage in the Arts Center Annex for a night celebrating live music in a listening room setting. Saranac Lake’s Hootenanny visits Lake Placid for this edition of the Traveling Hoot Show.

Cutting his teeth as the manager of the iconic Saratoga Springs listening room Caffe Lena, Reese Fulmer has emerged “with a poet’s sensibility rich with great storytelling and a healthy dose of irony.” (Viv Nesbitt, Art of the Song)

The 2023 and 2024 Americana Artist of the Year at the Thomas Edison Music Awards, Reese and his band have become one of the fastest-rising groups in upstate NY with expansive live albums highlighting a reputation for compelling performances. With a rotating cast of talented players, a broad and dynamic body of work, and a refusal to set anything in stone, their shows are always fresh, full of joy, and hard to describe. Think Wilco with hints of Prine and Zappa: “smart, emotionally tuned arrangements and a stage presence that balanced earnestness with unpredictability. Their live performance thrives in the liminal space between genres folk, Americana, jazz and the result is a sound that’s complex without being convoluted.” (NYSMusic).
