Wednesday, June 17, 6 – 8 pm

Artist and environmental psychologist Shawndel N. Fraser invites you to gather to start the conversation about how the trades can unify under a coherent vision about training the next generation, correcting the narrative about the trades to accurately reflect its vital importance to everything and everyone, and to consider new education about the best business practices for trades businesses including legacy planning for those looking to retire and pass on businesses and farms.

This first meeting won’t go deep into each topic, but it could be the first of many gatherings if people show up ready to courageously dig into tough topics that may not have been discussed this way before, with various trades represented in the room.

JOB

Wednesday, June 17 – Sunday, June 28, 2026

JOB is a sleek, riveting psychological thriller that begins as a routine job evaluation—and quickly becomes something far more dangerous. As two strangers face off behind closed doors, power shifts, truths blur, and every word carries consequences. Clever, suspenseful, and unsettlingly funny, the play probes ambition, control, and the quiet violence of modern work culture, asking who really holds the power in the room—and what it costs to succeed.

What Remains: Voices from the Margins of History

Saturday, June 20 – Friday, October 2, 2026

Opening reception Saturday, June 20, 4 – 7 pm

What Remains: Voices from the Margins of History invites visitors into a powerful visual archive of African American life in the Adirondack and Lake Champlain region during the early twentieth century, captured through the lens of photographer Daniel S. Brush. This exhibit illuminates individuals whose stories have often gone unrecorded, yet whose presence shaped the cultural fabric of the North Country. This is an invitation to honor the enduring legacy of those who lived, loved, and contributed meaningfully to the region — ensuring their voices are no longer at the margins, but central to our shared understanding of the past.

Reception will feature musical guest, King Solomon Hicks.

Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21

Three days of celebrations will be held from June 19 to June 21 to mark the 2026 national Juneteenth holiday in Clinton and Essex counties, which were hotbeds of abolitionism during a transformational time in American history. The three day celebration includes a jazz concert with blues guitarist Solomon Hicks in Plattsburgh, a bus tour of Underground Railroad sites including reenactors, a movie, art work, and a free family-themed fair with music, food, children’s games and the presentation of the annual Colors of Freedom Award.

Local Adirondack trio The Allens—songwriter Billy Allen, Shamin Allen (no relation), and Bill Chamberlain—are a longtime fixture in the Saranac Lake music scene. Their original songs are deeply rooted in the region, from Main Street to the Saranac River—hometown love stories “about as local as you can get” (Adirondack Daily Enterprise).

Blending close harmonies with folk-inspired storytelling, the group performs originals that reflect local places and lived experiences. Their lineup sometimes expands to include special guests, adding rich textures to the trio’s signature sound.
