Tannery Pond Center Presents Tannery Talks
1776 film, Intro by Glenn Pearsall
Saturday, July 4, 2 pm
A musical retelling of the American Revolution’s political struggle in the Continental Congress to declare independence.
1776 is a movie based on the Broadway play of the same name. It delightfully —and with some humor—tells the story of the Declaration of Independence. Local author/historian Glenn L. Pearsall will introduce it and, after its showing, deliver a brief talk on what happened to the signers of the Declaration of Independence after they signed it. This will be a fun and informative way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday!
Glenn Pearsall is a long time resident of Johnsburg and is well known to many here in Johnsburg and throughout the Adirondacks. In 2000, Glenn and his wife Carol created and funded a private foundation dedicated to improving the lives of year round residents of the Adirondack Park.

Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts (ALCA) Classic Movie Club dissects Vertigo
Thursday, July 2, 7 pm pre-screening discussion via Zoom
Thursday, July 2, 9:45 pm, Vertigo airs on Turner Classic Movies
Friday, July 3, 3 pm via Zoom, post-screening discussions of Vertigo
Periodically, classic-movie buff Fred Balzac, who serves as the grant coordinator for the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts—the region’s longest-running, continually operated arts center—scours the TCM schedule and selects films to feature in online “ALCA Classic Movie Club” discussions.

The online series is open to all who are or become an ALCA member and otherwise is free of charge. Participants will either already be a TCM subscriber or able to access the selected film another way, including in advance of that day’s screening by, for example, borrowing the movie from their local library or screening it elsewhere online (those who just want to participate in the discussions, whether they’ve seen the film before not, are also welcome).
To learn more about the “ALCA Classic Movie Club” or to sign up for it and receive program notices and the Zoom links, contact Fred at fred@adirondackarts.org.
